Fields: Judicial Politics and Constitutional Law, Black Politics, Urban Politics.
He is a former president of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists. Recent publications include

the 1996 Liberty Bell Award from the Lincoln Bar Association, as well as the Recognition Award for Contributions to
Students sponsored by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Parents' Association and Teaching Council, January 1992, 1993, and 1995.
