Internships

Organizations Requesting Interns:
Contact political science advisor at PSAdvisor2@unl.edu.

The Department of Political Science sponsors internships in a number of public and private agencies in and outside of Nebraska. Local internships are available with state senators, the governor, attorney general, the state Democratic and Republican parties, local attorneys, and several not-for-profit organizations. Other internships are available in Washington, some overseas. Internships provide an opportunity for students to link a work experience with an educational component related to the work. Students are able to preview a profession or career and gain an appreciation of the skills required to be successful. They are able to compare, assess, and integrate lessons learned on the job with materials, readings, and exchanges provided by a faculty member assigned to supervise their experience. Internships with the Nebraska Unicameral as a page are also available. For more information, contact the Internship Coordinator at 472-3214.

Students register for PS 395 (the call number is available from the undergraduate advisor). Internships as a Unicameral page register for PS 295. These students must be selected for the program. All internships must be approved by the undergraduate adviser.
