The University of Nebraska-Lincoln recently hosted 20 students from Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe for the 2015 Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders on Civic Engagement. These visiting students engaged in a variety of activities, including classes and a simulation with UNL’s Model United Nations group.  Model UN and Global Studies Students designed the simulation.  They chose the theme, “Eliminating Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerances,” to coincide with the SUSI courses. The MUN students designed the simulation to mimic a five-day Model UN conference in just two hours and included research on member states and writing and presenting resolutions. Co-President Sarah O’Neill remarked that the conference was a “major success,” and that all involved had a good time.
