We are committed to bringing global perspectives to our students in and out of the classroom. Studying abroad is a great way to earn academic credit, see the world, and meet interesting people.

Students may participate in one of UNL's education abroad programs, or enroll in a university outside of the U.S. Students have journeyed around the world in diverse and eye-opening locations, including Bulgaria, China, Costa Rica, England (at Oxford University), India, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia, Romania, Spain, Ukraine, and Vietnam—and some have participated in the "Semester at Sea" program.

For semester- or year-long study abroad, students can take courses on foreign governments and politics, especially of the host country, or courses on international relations that count toward their political science major. The department will work with you to arrange courses and transfer credits.

Ready to study abroad?

After you select a program from the Education Abroad website, set up an appointment with the department's academic advisor via Student Success Hub. Political science courses at the university you are applying to will be identified and matched to UNL courses to get credit for them.

Joshua Waltjer at Oxford

“The 'Nebraska at Oxford' education abroad program was an incredible combination of experiential and classroom learning. I visited seven countries in six weeks with some of my closest friends, which was an experience I'll never forget.”
