Mock Trial

Mock Trial is an activity that provides an opportunity for undergraduates to participate in fictional trial. Students argue either the prosecution or defense side of a case. The case, supplied by collegemocktrial.org, is a mock-up of what an actual case would look like and is played out like an actual case would be in a court of law.

UNL's Mock Trial team competes against other universities across the country at numerous regional and national tournaments. Mock Trial is open to students of all majors but is largely populuated by students interested in careers relating to the legal system or communications.

It’s a way to learn about the ins and outs of a courtroom and the legal system. It’s also a way to develop critical thinkers and aware citizens within society.

Model United Nations

Model United Nations is a student-run simulation of the real United Nations. Students represent particular countries and research these countries. They travel to national and international conferences, where they compete with students from other schools.

National Security Club

UNL's National Security Club invites professionals from the national security establishment to speak on their experiences, stories, and career guidance. Our student-run group hosts monthly discussions on current national security issues such as ISIS and Russia-Ukraine.

We have special panels and invite professors, intelligence community professionals, and students to weigh in on issues ranging from ethics of whistelblowing, emerging threats, and careers.
