With the 2016 elections just around the corner, the youth vote will again be a hot topic as the Democrats and Republicans duke it out. To remind their peers of the importance of making their voices heard in the American political system, William H. Thompson Scholars enrolled in POLS 100, an introductory American government class, created a series of humorous public service announcements.
This fun assignment was part of their final projects designed to address key democratic dilemmas facing the nation. “I always tell my class that the sky’s the limit in terms of how creative they can be and this semester, my students really exceeded my expectations!” said Dr. Dona-Gene Barton. One group even went as far as to parody Zach Galifianakis’ famed interview series “Between Two Ferns.” The UNL student version is titled “Between Two Chairs” and was filmed throughout Lincoln near notable landmarks including the Capital Building.
