We are excited to recognize Makayla Wendland, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science, as the recipient of the Dr. Joseph Elston Research Grant.

The grant will support Makayla’s empirical analysis for her dissertation article, “We Are Family: A Dynamic Spatiotemporal Analysis of Terrorist Group Splintering Using Genealogical Lineage.” In it, Makayla argues that terrorist group splintering affects the spatial distribution of terrorist violence.
